Catie Whitt - Literacy Coach

Mrs. Catie Whitt
My name is Catie Whitt. I am the literacy coach at Robinson Elementary. This is my fifth year in the Kirkwood School District and I couldn't be more proud to be a part of this community of learners. I have taught third, fourth, and first grades. I previously worked as a reading specialist.
I graduated from Lindenwood University in 2008 with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. As I began my career in education, I quickly found out that I needed to learn more about instructional practices in the area of reading to help students succeed. I received my Masters degree in Reading in 2015. I will begin my doctorate program this spring at Maryville University. I believe that every child has the right to equitable literacy experiences to enhance their future.
My husband Jason and I have been married for twelve years. Our oldest son is named Sawyer and he is in seventh grade in the Rockwood School District. Our eight year old daughter is named Margo and she loves gymnastics. Our youngest son, George, is six and loves baseball. We also have a three year old goldendoodle named Mabel.
In my spare time I enjoy taking trips with my family and building lasting memories with them. I enjoy winter and all of the wonderful outdoor opportunities it brings like skiing, visiting the mountains, ice-fishing, etc. I love sports of all kinds, baking, reading, building and putting things together, and being outdoors.
I look forward to learning about all of you and building relationships with your families this school year.
