Dr. Amber Swopshire
Hi! My name is Amber Swopshire and I will be your child’s 5th grade teacher this year. This is my 16th year in teaching, and I am so excited to take this journey with you. I have been married for almost 15 years to my husband, Charlie. We have two daughters. Charlotte, who is 12 , will be starting 7th grade at Nipher. Addison is 6 years old and is starting 1st grade at Robinson. I also have twin bonus sons, Cameron and Alex. They are 18 years old and will be Freshmen at Southeast Missouri State University this Fall! I look forward to meeting you all and I know we’ll have a successful school year.
I started my career in SLPS as a small group reading teacher for 3rd-5th grades. I then moved into a traditional classroom and taught 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades. From there, I went to Ritenour School District where I taught 2nd and 3rd grades. After 4 years in Ritenour, I decided to move closer to home, so I taught 5th grade in Webster Groves for one year. This is now my 7th year in Kirkwood and I am so excited to be here!
Education: In December of 2010, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education 1st-6th grades from UMSL. I got my Master’s in Educational Technology in May 2015 from Webster University. I also received my Doctorate in Teacher Leadership from Maryville University in 2018.
